James R. Blackshear Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals
The United Pentecostal Church International recognized James R. Blackshear for 50 years of ministerial service.
ANCHORAGE, AK, August 12, 2010 /Religion PR News/ -- James R. Blackshear Bishop of Life Church of Anchorage has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in religious services.
At Life Church, Mr. Blackshear is responsible for interacting with people, preaching the Word of God and serving in an advisory role as an Elder. A church pastor since 1962, he has also served as district superintendent for the Alaska-Yukon District of the United Pentecostal Church International from 1972 until 2007. As district superintendent, he led in efforts to establish new church congregations in different communities. He also led in efforts to develop a district-owned church and camp facilities used for family and youth camp activities. With over 50 years of involvement in ministerial services, he lends his success to his ability to take calculated risks and the support he has received from his fellow ministers as well as from his faithful wife of over 49 years, Betty.
Mr. Blackshear received a master's degree in religious studies from Almeda University. He also earned a certified flight instructor's rating to enhance the missions program of his district. He is actively involved with the United Pentecostal Church International as an honorary board member of the General Board, the United Pentecostal Church of Canada and the Alaska-Yukon District. He was recognized by his church organization recently for 50 years of ministerial service. In the near future, Mr. Blackshear hopes to work with a team of retired ministers and others in visiting small churches, preaching and teaching on the weekends.
