Backed by an astounding 50 years of professional experience, Jim founded The Alexandria Mental Services Chest, Inc. in 2004. Utilizing the experience he gained while working with the Alexandria Community Services Board, he established The Alexandria MSC, Inc. in an effort to help Alexandria's high school graduates with mental disabilities as well as educate the public on mental health issues that have profound effects on adolescents. An official nonprofit organization, The Alexandria MSC, Inc. assists young people diagnosed with schizophrenia, depression and addiction to achieve recovery and live independently. The organization is currently in the throws of raising $80,000 to provide grants for Alexandria's special education high school graduates.

Jim holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from the George Washington University, earned in 1963, and completed coursework in pre-medicine. Moving forward, he intends to continue educating people on schizophrenia, depression and brain injuries. He looks forward to ushering in a new group of volunteers into The Alexandria MSC, Inc. and enable independence for young people affected by mental illness and intellectual disabilities.
