LORAIN, OH, March 31, 2010 /Religion PR News/ -- Barbara A. Kapucinski, Principal of Garfield Elementary School, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Elementary Education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities
A seasoned veteran in elementary education administration, Barbara A. Kapucinski lends over 33 years of experience to Garfield Elementary School, where she serves as Principal. Ms. Kapucinski now celebrates her fifth year as a Principal, recognized for her excellence in curriculum development and administration. Prior to joining Garfield Elementary School, Kapucinski worked as a teacher within many Catholic elementary schools and a building manager within the public elementary school system. She was also Director of the Magnet Schools within Lorain City Schools in 2008.
Ms. Kapucinski has written articles that have appeared in Religion Teacher's Journal and Today's Catholic Teacher. She received her master's degree in education and reading from the University of Dayton in 1990 and her bachelor of arts in education from the Notre Dame College in 1978. Ms. Kapucinski credits her professional success to date to her perseverance, ambitious nature and leadership skills, as well as her supportive family members.
At Garfield Elementary School, students develop ideas and inquiry skills as they study key concepts in the areas of living things, weather, liquids and sounds, bones and skeletons, the Earth, sun and moon, and circuits and pathways. The goals of Garfield Elementary School include increasing student achievement through hands-on activities and student-centered curriculum, utilizing cutting-edge technological resources, and improving parent involvement.
