Richard P. Busse Honored for Accomplishments in Law

    VALPARAISO, IN, October 12, 2010 /Religion PR News/ -- Richard P. Busse, Attorney-at-Law, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in legal services.

Richard P. Busse offers extensive experience and a high level of personal service and attention to individuals and businesses throughout Northwest Indiana. He has operated his own small business for over 35 years and provided legal counsel to clients in the area for 10 years. He understands the legal challenges clients face, whether they are an individual facing a personal bankruptcy filing, a business or business owner dealing with a contract problem, or a person seeking to protect and pass on the legacy they have worked so hard to build.

Actually, law is Mr. Busse's third career. He has almost thirty years of practical contact with people as a small business owner/entrepreneur and over fifteen years of experience as a teacher in higher education. His life-long interest in civil liberties finally led him to law school, and he is now facilitating others in forming, buying, selling, and expanding their own businesses. He is committed to helping the ordinary person who has been wronged by big business or government. "Enhancing the life of 'individuals-in-community' is the goal of my practice of law," he explained. Since 1974, Mr. Busse, as an independent concessionaire, has provided quality food and excellent service at fairs and festivals in the Midwest and along the East Coast. He is president and founder of Dr. Vegetable, Inc., a recognized brand name in the food concession industry.

Mr. Busse is admitted to practice law in Indiana, U.S. District Court Northern District of Indiana, U.S. District Court Southern District of Indiana, and U.S. Court of Appeals 7th Circuit. He attended Valparaiso University School of Law where he earned a J.D., Lutheran School of Theology, where he earned a Ph.D., Th.M., and a M.T.S., and Valparaiso University, where he earned a B.A. He is the author of more than 25 published works.

In recognition of his achievements, Mr. Busse received the Whitlock Award from the Calumet Chapter Indiana Civil Liberties Union (2001)., the Outstanding Program Award from Porter County Inns of Court (1999 - 2000), the Legal Ethics Award from Valparaiso University School of Law (1998), the Robert G. Risk Award (1998) and the Chapter Service Award (1994) from the Indiana Civil Liberties Union.

Mr. Busse is a member of numerous profession associations including the American Academy of Religion, the American Bar Association, the Center for Process Studies, the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences, the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science, and the Indiana Bar Association. Additionally, he serves as Associate Faculty in History and Philosophy at Indiana University Northwest, and is a Founding Associate of the Chicago Center for Religion and Science. He served as Editor of Insights: the Magazine of the Chicago Center for Religion and Science (1989 - 1994) and Bulletin for the Council of Societies for the Study of Religion (1988 - 1995). He was President of the Midwest American Academy of Religion (1994 - 1996). He remains actively involved with the Indiana Civil Liberties Union, and currently serves as President of the Union's Calumet Chapter, and as a member of the State Board of Directors. He has provided pro-bono services to the ACLU and Lake County Family Law. He is currently Chairman of the Board of National Independent Concessionaires Association.
