Patricia Polk Sims Recognized for Excellence in Non-Profit Social Services
Patricia Polk Sims, a biblical counseling professional, enables strong families to facilitate community-based growth
ATLANTA, GA, June 5, 2009 /Religion PR News/ -- Patricia Polk Sims, Executive Director of The Chris Draft Family Foundation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of non-profit social services.
Patricia Polk Sims is a veteran juvenile justice, youth education and biblical counseling professional with 35 years of experience. She has been executive director of The Chris Draft Family Foundation since 2007, where she specializes in interacting with corporations and partners to raise community awareness of the Foundation and its mission of helping people and families. She previously worked as a shelter manager, batterer intervention program coordinator & co-facilitator of Women's Aid Service, Inc. in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, as a Court Services Officer I for the Wyandotte County District Court 29's juvenile department in Kansas City, Kansas as a study skills and time management instructor & consultant for Study Systemizer, Inc. in Overland Park, Kansas and as a 5th & 6th grade teacher for the Open Door Christian School in Kansas City, Kansas. Ms. Sims made the decision to pursue a career in social services because of her desire for change and her realization that strong families are a crucial component of community-based growth. A dedicated social servant, she commits to completing difficult jobs, regardless of what they entail. She considers helping her former clients and students achieve success to be especially rewarding.
Ms. Sims attributes her success to her helpful nature, faith in God and ability to take advantage of the opportunities presented to her. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was selected as Executive of the Year representing Non-Profit Social Services by Cambridge Who's Who (2009-2010). She received a Master of Science in Psychology from Pittsburg State University in 1976 and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Smith College in 1975. She became a certified biblical counselor through the American Association of Christian Counselors. She sits on the Board of Directors of TrueCompetition.org and is a member of the Alumni Association of Smith College. She aspires to direct a faith-based residential youth ranch for juvenile offenders, which would feature programming directed toward restoring and strengthening families and communities.
