Fantastic food and fellowship are open to the public in an event hosted by St. David's Choir
KENNEBUNK, ME, June 19, 2009 /Religion PR News/ -- St. David's Episcopal Church will host a Public Bean Supper on Saturday, June 27 in the Great Hall of St. David's Episcopal Church on Route 1 at 6 p.m. This event is the second in a series of special suppers hosted by the church.
Organizers welcome people of all ages and denominations to an evening of great home-cooked food at an affordable price prepared by members of St. David's Choir. Ham, baked beans, corn bread, brown bread, potato salad, coleslaw, and home-made desserts are on the menu. Adults are $6 and children are $3.
"Our Spring Smorgasbord was a popular hit last month. We look forward to opening the doors of St. David's again to welcome the community back for another hearty supper. Our cooks within the congregation are fantastic and prepare some of the finest family recipes you'll find anywhere. It's a fun, affordable evening out where you don't have to worry about cooking dinner!" said Edmund Bellegarde, a member of St. David's Vestry, who is the series organizer.
As part of the supper series, St. David's will also host a chicken barbeque in August, a spaghetti dinner in September and their marquee event of a "Prelude to a Celtic Christmas" which will be part of the Kennebunk area's Christmas Prelude Festival in December.
The community suppers complement several other social events held each year at St. David's including a variety of craft and book fairs, poetry readings, and dances. For more information on upcoming events please visit our calendar at: http://www.stdavidskennebunk.org/.
About St. David's Episcopal Church
Saint David's Episcopal Church is a year-round parish in an old New England community which was first settled in 1650. In addition to its full schedule of worship activities and observances, this dynamic congregation offers residents many educational and social outlets and is actively engaged in community outreach and service. The church consists of a lively proportion of young families, mixed with a healthy blend of middle-aged and retired communicants from the seacoast area. Since York County is among the fastest growing areas of Maine, many of our communicants are new residents "from away." This mix is augmented each summer by visitors to the area, many of whom consider us their vacation church home. In the warm and informal atmosphere of Saint David's, new friendships blossom and roots in the new home community are easily established.
