Dr. Jelinek has her own private practice in psychotherapy in Wellesley, and is the Assistant Director, Supervisor and Therapist at the Weaver Center in Wayland, MA.
Wellesley Hills, MA, December 11, 2008 /Religion PR News/ -- The Rev. Dr. Bonnie Scott Jelinek, Minister at Large at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of counseling and spiritual services.
With many years of professional experience, seven of which have been in her current position, Rev. Dr. Jelinek excels in ministry and counseling. Her responsibilities include performing in morning worship services, providing pastoral care and visitation, participating in baptisms, funerals and wedding services, leading woman's retreats, and acting as a pastoral resource for the church, the ministerial staff, and the church committees. In addition, Dr. Jelinek has her own private practice in psychotherapy in Wellesley, and is the Assistant Director, Supervisor and Therapist at the Weaver Center in Wayland, MA.
In 1967, she received the Scott Award in Religion and Philosophy from Lake Forest College and is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Life Achievement Award from Emma Willard School in Troy, NY. Her education at Emma Willard and the support she received from her parents and family, as well as her faith, are foundational factors which contributed to her success.
Dr. Jelinek received her Psychotherapy training from the Boston Institute for Psychotherapies, her Doctor of Ministry from Andover Newton Theological School in 1983, her Master of Arts in Religion from Yale University Divinity School and her Bachelor of Arts from Lake Forest College. She is a board member of various organizations including Harvard/MGH Board of Endowment for the Advancement of Psychotherapy, the Alumni Council of the Emma Willard School, and the Committee on Ministry of the Metropolitan Boston Association of the United Church of Christ, where she also serves as the Registrar of the Association.
As a Senior Minster, Rev. Jelinek served the Newton Highlands Congregational Church, as well as several parishes in Connecticut and was an Interim Minister in West Stockbridge, MA. Dr. Jelinek also has a private practice in psychotherapy and counseling in Wellesley and oversees advocacy for students in school and in social situations through her work at the Weaver Center in Wayland. She began her private practice in Newton and Wellesley in 1986.
Dr. Jelinek, her husband Richard, and their children have been involved for many years in Opportunity International, a global NGO microfinance organization operating in over 35 countries. Its mission is to create jobs for the poor in developing countries by providing small loans to relatively poor but deserving entrepreneurs.
