Author Tahiera Monique Brown to be a guest on "Sunday Morning Gospel Sounds" Show - Easter Sunday, April 8th, at 8:30 a.m., on 98.7 KISS FM
Author Tahiera Monique Brown is scheduled to appear on the Easter Sunday segment of "Sunday Morning Gospel Sounds" on Easter Sunday, April 8, at 8:30 a.m. Tahiera will share brief comments with the host of the show, Ron Marshall, about her book, Annihilator of Innocence.
/Religion PR News/ - BIRMINGHAM, AL, April 08, 2007 - 19 years ago during the Easter Holiday, Tahiera Monique Brown was not buying pretty clothes for her children to wear to church. She was in a coma. Upon coming out of the coma, she would face the agony of reliving two years of physical and sexual abuse, as she worked tirelessly to rebuild the broken lives of her immediate family. It is amazing that, on Easter Sunday in 1988, this servant of the Lord was willing to choose death to save the lives of her children.
For several months after the publishing of her book, Tahiera has waited and hoped for an opportunity to speak specifically to the church community. It is critically important to her, as she completes the first leg of our Southeast Book Tour, and moves to other parts of the country, that she come quickly to the church to share these issues. Annihilator of Innocence was not written as what could be categorized as a Christian book. The language that is contained in the book was the same language used by the perpetrator who held her hostage for two years in her own home. Yet, this did not stop her from praying in her closet--begging the Lord to save her from her pain.
The church community has the greatest opportunity to become more involved in issues relating to domestic violence. As groups such as women's ministries and other faith based organizations begin to embrace her message, it is her hope that more lives can be saved, as the church becomes more involved in the intervention process, when concerned members of the congregation suspect that domestic violence and sexual abuse is taking place in someone's home. Psalm 10:17-18 says:
"17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed,
in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more".
The church has an opportunity to hear the cry of those in our community, and to take action that will impact and improve their lives. We too can hear the heart of God's servant Tahiera. She wants nothing more than to find others who are willing to join her in her calling, which is truly a ministry, and help others to escape the pain and agony of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Tune your dial to 98.7 this Sunday as you enjoy your morning coffee; or on your drive to Sunday School or early morning worship services. You will be blessed by the words of this anointed servant of God.
