SHELLEY BERKLEY TO SPEAK ON 6OTH ANNIVERSARY OF AUSCHWITZ LIBERATION
Congresswoman Shelley Berkley will discuss her trip to Auschwitz at Temple Beth Sholom on Friday evening, May 6th at 7:30 pm. The community is invited to attend.
/24-7PressRelease.com/ - Las Vegas, NV, April 12, 2005 - In her official capacity as Congresswoman, Representative and House International Committee Member Shelley Berkley marked the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in a ceremony held at the site of the infamous concentration camp in Poland.
Berkley traveled to the event in January of this year as part of a U.S. delegation which included Vice President Dick Cheney, Members of Congress, officials with the State Department and Department of Defense and American Holocaust survivors and
liberators.
"We must never let future generations forget what happened at Auschwitz in one of the greatest acts of human cruelty the world has ever known," said Berkley. "The voices of all those who perished in the Holocaust have been silenced, but their stories and the memory of their lives will forever be kept in our hearts."
Along with marking the 60th anniversary of the day in January 1945 when allied forces liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau, the ceremony also paid tribute to survivors of the Holocaust and the estimated 1.5 million victims who lost their lives in the notorious death camp.
Congresswoman Berkley's remarks will follow Friday night services at Temple Beth Sholom. There is no charge to attend. Temple Beth Sholom is located at 10700 Havenwood Lane in Summerlin. For further information, contact Barbara Kenig at (702)498.9808.
